PROMOTION TEST GUIDELINES

Testing is an exciting time for each student to exhibit
his/her new talents, skills, and achievements
in Taekwondo as well as scholastically. It is also a time
when students who are deemed ready by
their instructor(s) are given the opportunity to advance to
the next level.
Testing is a natural process of setting goals and achieving
them. Each student is expected to
earnestly seek the privilege of being able to test and should
accept this privilege whenever the
opportunity is given. A testing opportunity should not be
refused by a student without a good reason.
Students should always invite their family/friends to come
and watch the test and belt ceremony.
Parents and family should be especially supportive at this
time and should make every effort to attend
the test and to help their student prepare for it.

be evaluated on the requirements for their intended belt
level. This is done for the purpose of seeing who is
ready to promote and also for identifying the things
that the student may need to practice more before
testing. By doing this, no student is ever put forward
for promotion if he/she is not ready to promote to the
next level.
** Ultimately it is the instructors’ decision who will be
allowed to test. The instructor may allow or
deny testing for any reason he/she feels reasonable. In the
case of a denied testing, the reasons will
be discussed with the student and with his/her parents if
applicable.**
